Systems Thinking.
Once inequities are identified, we take a deep dive into systems that may be producing those inequities. The goal of systems thinking initiatives is to answer the questions: “How might we improve . . . ?” and “What is my role in . . . ?”
This process is best completed with as many stakeholders as possible. That said, at a minimum, each committee must contain a representative from the marginalized or minoritized group identified during the equity audit, a school leader, and an outside stakeholder.
Each committee will conduct systems analysis to identify surface, subsurface, micro, and macro understandings of the issue of inequity. After identifying contributing factors for each system, the committee will search for causal loops and linear thinking that contribute to system complexity.
