We try to run, but mostly walk, so it’s not a run club. We meet at various locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. All educators and their families are welcome.

Why Penguins?

Penguins are flightless birds that waddle around on land in a gate that makes them appear awkward and vulnerable. That’s how we felt in our first year as classroom teachers. Penguins are a metaphor.

They are absolutely awkward and vulnerable when they are alone, on land, and waddling aimlessly through life. But have you seen them in the water? Have you seen them when they’re in their element with their friends? They are graceful, powerful, and anything but helpless.

Over more than a decade we’ve noticed that teachers are often acting as lone penguins. Teachers need a community. NOT a professional development community, but a real community of friends with similar experiences working together to enjoy life outside of school.

Be a penguin with us. We host free events. We participate in paid events. But we never charge you to be one of us. We will even make you a shirt!
